C&rsquo;est le tissu dans lequel on est enterr\u00e9. Depuis des si\u00e8cles, les familles malgaches enveloppent leurs morts dans d&rsquo;\u00e9pais linceuls de soie sauvage, tiss\u00e9s \u00e0 partir d&rsquo;un papillon end\u00e9mique qui vit sur un seul type d&rsquo;arbre \u2014 et la fabrication de ce tissu relie une for\u00eat, une tradition et les croyances les plus profondes sur les anc\u00eatres. C&rsquo;est l&rsquo;un des artisanats les plus discr\u00e8tement profonds de l&rsquo;\u00eele.<\/p>\n<h2>Le papillon qui file le fil<\/h2>\n<p>La soie de Madagascar ne vient pas du ver \u00e0 soie asiatique du m\u00fbrier mais d&rsquo;un papillon sauvage et end\u00e9mique : le <strong>landibe<\/strong> (<em>Borocera cajani<\/em>). Ses cocons donnent une soie bien diff\u00e9rente du fil lisse de Chine \u2014 plus \u00e9paisse, plus grossi\u00e8re, richement textur\u00e9e. Si diff\u00e9rente que des douaniers am\u00e9ricains auraient pris la soie de landibe pour du <strong>coton<\/strong>.
